14/10/2011 - BlackBerry problems solved - according to RIM

Research In Motion, the company behind BlackBerry, have stated that the problems being suffered by BlackBerry users since Monday should now be over and everything is back to normal.

The underlying hardware problem in their Slough data centre was fixed fairly quickly but the backlog of data which resulted caused further problems around the world putting pressure on several other BlackBerry servers. Data levels are now back to normal.

12/10/2011 - BlackBerry problems ongoing

Many users throughout the UK and Europe are experiencing problems with their BlackBerry handsets following a hardware failure at RIMs data centre. Back up services did not function as tested leading to major problems for many users, particularly those on BIS.

There is now a large backlog of data to be processed which means the ongoing problems may continue for a little while yet.
