What is a PUK code?
PUK stands for Pin Unlock Key. It is a number provided by the network to unblock your phone when it has become blocked due to entering an incorrect PIN code three times in a row.It should not be confused with a PAC (Porting Authorisation Code) nor is it to do with unlocking a phone, for instance to change to another network.
A PIN code on a mobile phone allows you to protect your contacts and data in the event of your phone becoming lost or stolen or being used by a work colleague or family member without permission.
Should you forget this code and enter it incorrectly 3 times your phone and/or sim card will become blocked. Should you enter it incorrectly 10 times in a row the block becomes permanent and a new sim card will be required from the network (at a cost).
In the first instance you can unblock your phone by getting a PUK code from your network. They should provide you with the code over the phone and you can unblock it whilst you are on the line with them.
