0844 numbers and 0845 numbers
0844 and 0845 numbers are non-geographic numbers. This means that they are not tied to a district such as 0115 for Nottingham, 0131 for Edinburgh etc.
Non-geographic numbers simply mask any of your telephone numbers so a client might dial 0844 *** **** but it will actually ring your main sales line.
0845 and 0844 numbers are also often referred to as "local rate" numbers. This distinguishes them from the more expensive 0870/0871 "national rate" numbers.
